In the ‘Create’ activity, you will work in a small group to design, build & code your own device to study and save the bees using the Climate Action Kit!

You may design a bee counter or come up with something new!

Follow these steps:

An icon of a magnifying glass, a paper with notes, and a brain.

Step 1: Research different ways every day people and scientists are working together to study and save the bees

Icons of a light bulb, a thought bubble, and a pencil.

Step 2: Plan your project and decide what building blocks, smart components, and craft materials you will need for building

Step 3: Build your prototype, then connect it to Microsoft MakeCode to add code

Step 4: Test and debug until the device works

SUCCESS CRITERIA

I can build a device to study or save the bees with the Climate Action Kit that uses at least:

  • one sensor (e.g. touch)
  • one conditional statement
  • one variable to track data (e.g. number of bees)

Don’t feel limited by this. You can get creative and add more features if you would like!
